Would probably get more responses in the xj area, but this is for my zj... I know everyone adjusting there steering stops to keep tires from hitting lca's. Well could I adjust them to have tighter turning on the trail, if I dont have a problem with rubbing the lca's, or would I start to tear axles up if I make it turn any sharper?
Chime in if anyone has done this, and if not I will be the test subject lol

Your turning radius is controlled by the width of your front and rear axles along with the length of your vehicle. It is possible by adjusting your stops you will turn tighter but it seems to me that if your on a trail and flexing a little you will get rubbing. But thats my thoughts. Hopefully someone in the grand Cherokee world would know more. Give it a go otherwise and see. Worse you'll do is rub ad have to readjust them. Just mark them in case you want to go back.

IMO, don't do it. Not only will it overstress the joints, it may bend the axles, which is not good. With a u-joint, the output shaft changes velocity every 1/4 turn at ANY angle other than straight. A CV (constant velocity) joint is in effect 2 u-joints in one, therefore maintaining a constant velocity on both shafts. I believe a few degrees of is not going to do much to change your turning radius enough to make that much of a difference. You'll just have to choose a different line thru the trees or buy a Wrangler.

Okay, does "shorter wheelbase vehicle" sound better? WTF, it's a Jeep, isn't it? When it comes to off-roading, Grand Cherokees are tanks anyway!
I had a Chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 before I bought my ZJ. If it wasn't a road, I couldn't use it! I had 33X12.5's on it which made it even worse! My buddy's "W" would go ANYWHERE!
I just bought a WJ and I don't think I can take it places my ZJ would go. Correct me if I'm wrong, please!
