Could you post some pictures? front view, side view, and inside the wheel well. Also do you have a gopro or some sort of camera you can put under there to watch the front end as it wobbles? My death wobble was loose driver side wheel studs which caused it to wobble some how even though the wheel was properly torqued. I didn't notice till after I went to rotate the tires and could literally push the studs right out of the back of the hub. This was all caused by the previous owner putting on the passenger tire crooked and then it proceeded to snap the studs and fly off on the highway. I
don't know, probably not your case but its worth a shot.

Looking at your pics, I see you have less backspacing on your wheels so they stick out from the hubs a lot more. This adds more offset torque to the hubs and will amplify any looseness in the bearings. As was suggested before, try using a stock set of wheels and tires. Your spare looks like it has the right offset. The bigger tires are heavier and anything that triggers vibration will amplify quicker. Your XJ seems to have normal wheel offset to keep the load over the hub bearings.

I may be picking nits, but we've gone over everything else. The hubs may not feel loose, but I'll bet they are the problem.

My WJ had worn hub bearings, bad ball joints, and 2 loose tierod ends and never had a wobble problem, just a tendency to wander and rattle over rough roads. I also had a drift problem on crowned roads, meaning it pulled to the right.

dave,
Just an update,
So i took off my pass wheel(the side that causes the most problems) and checked the hub and cv again. no play or noise what so ever. Then decided to put on only one stock wheel this time. Got the sucka up to 40 MPH! but that was pushing it. So i put on a differnt tire on the drivers side from a buddy. same size. and we are back to square one again
it seems if a have one odd sized tire on the pass side its "better" but not good. believe me, i was thrilled to be able to go 35mph! HA

Did you spin them up on jacks? You may need to seek professional help, like an alignment shop or jeep specialist.

Default Frame twisting?

Could the whole frame be twisting where the steering box is bolted? This is the cause of Death Wobble on Dodge trucks. It is something you really can't see but goes away after changes are made to stiffen the frame in this area. Over the years I have noticed that weak frames where the steering box bolts on is a common theme with Chrysler products.

For the trucks they make a kit to brace the frame in this area. I ended up making my own braces for my 94 Ram 3500 to stiffen it up because of Death Wobble that was so bad I couldn't even see out the mirror to make sure I was clear of traffic to pull over. It kept going until I came to an absolute complete stop. stiffening it up fixed it.

I own a 2000 WJ and I don't have this problem, but I've heard a lot about broken mounting bolts for the steering box. That was one of the things I checked to catch this problem on mine before it happened.

This is a possibility because the steering master link connects to the right front wheel and that's where your problem seemed to originate. Didn't I ask you to check those bolts before?
