Hey guys quick question. I just bought a 97 grand and the ac works like I can get cold out of the defrosters and the floor vents but not the normal vents. The switch doesn't seem broken it opens all the other vents but the right ones. The guy I bought it from said it needed a "heater assembly" which would be the whole switch panel thing with the 3 *****. Does that sound right to you guys?

 

He could be correct......
It could also be the blend door assembly.
The controls are easy, the blend door on the other hand is a PITA.

Check under the hood on the passenger side at the top of the bulkhead (firewall) for a small black vacuum hose. That hose is the supply for the HVAC mode door motors, it there is no vacuum the system goes into a default mode and will only do what you say it is doing. Make sure you have vacuum to that black line.
