Exclamation A/C Not Coming out of Vents or defrost. Only Floor. Need Help!

I recently purchased a 1995 ZJ Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8 and am having some problems with the air conditioning.

At the moment there is only air coming out of the floor vents and vents on the driver and passenger doors. No air is coming from the defroster or face vents at all, even when switched to face or defrost.

I checked to see if the parts were moving when I turn the **** to defrost, floor, etc and everything seems to working and moving around fine.

Any suggestions or ideas? I've searched and searched and really haven't found any threads with definite solutions for the '95 ZJ.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hahah. Can't help you there.

What have you tried so far with your air problem?

I would actually check to see if there is a vacuum leak somewhere. I had a similar problem and couldn't get anything out of the vents. Searched around the engine bay and found a vacuum hose cut. May take you a little while, but you get to check to see if all your hoses are in good condition!

Thanks for the tip! I actually just looked over the vacuum lines and didn't see or hear any leaks or tears, but I could be looking at the wrong lines.

Which ones should I be looking at? Do you have a pic by chance?

If your cruise control is working, I'd say your issue isn't vacuum related.
It could be a blend door issue, which is fairly common on these. Check out this sites info. http://www.heatertreater.net/indextech.html#window

Well then it could possibly be the blower motor. I have heard that the blower motor failing can be a common thing in these type grand cherokees. I would check your fuses, I don't know the specific one but check to see if you have a possible blown fuse. If your fuses are ok then check to see if the motor or resistor is possibly bad. Unfortunately it's these tedious problems that could have many solutions...

My cruise control doesn't work, actually. Just tried it out today and nothing.

Since it doesn't work, does that mean it's most likely vacuum related?

If the fuse isn't bad, then I'd look for a loose/broken vacuum line, or an issue with the vacuum cannister. I think it's under the battery tray on the ZJ.
Read this thread, it covers your issue, and the cannister's location. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f5/don-tx-102331/

Thanks Dan.

I'll give all of this a look over and will be working on it tomorrow. I will post an update as soon as I try all of this out.

Fingers crossed I can find the problem!

Sweet! Hope it all works out. I know it's much better fixing the problem yourself then paying $$ to a mechanic shop.
