Default Battery keeps going dead.......

I haven't used my Grand at all for about 8 months. Decided it was time to part ways so I was prepping to sale. Battery was dead,so i jumped it off my 4Runner. Drove it for about 10 miles, next day won't start. Battery has enough power to light the door lights, but just does the multiple clicking noise when trying to start. Battery was purchased last year,so I doubt it's bad. I believe something is drawing on it. Could it be the security? I thought I read something on here before about an aftermarket box that you could install to defeat the security.

Charge the battery longer than ten minutes. Don't be surprised of it doesn't hold a charge after sitting dormant for eight months.

Yeah ten minutes is nothing. Let it idle in the driveway for a couple hours while you sit back and have a few beers.

If you're going to let any vehicle sit for more than three weeks you should disconnect the battery.

It this battery was dead and allowed to freeze, it's toast. the ice destroys the plate separaters inside and it won't hold a charge. If you kept it charged all winter or took it inside, it would have been okay. We find this problem with lawn tractor batteries every spring. Boat batteries also. Guys I know keep a "trickle" charger on their classic cars in the garage all winter.

I have a new battery I took out of my Dodge Caravan 3 years ago and put in my kitchen in the corner. It still has a charge in it when I checked it a month ago. Not much, but it will light a headlamp bright.
