Have a 2000 grand Cherokee. When I drive the car and the brake light comes on in the dash and I turn the car off it drains the battery. “Rear brake lights not burning”. Sometimes the dash brake light goes out when I a driving and when that happens and I turn the car off it does not drain the battery I have pulled every fuse in the car and still can’t find the drain. Any ideas.

 

There are 3 things that turn on that light,
1) parking brake on
2) brake fluid low in the master cylinder
3) the ABS dash warning light bulb being burnt out.

I can't see how any of them would cause a substantial battery drain, but stranger thing have happened. The only thing I'm thinking about is the ABS control unit may be shorted intermittently. I got sick and tired of my ABS coming on whenever it wanted to, weither it was needed or not so I pulled both fuses. Then I got weird messages from my overhead console, such as "Power seat disabled. Seat belt engaged." I don't have power seats and my seat belt was not on at that time.
