Axle popping
Hello! New to the forum, and new owner of a 2000 Grand Cherokee. Went out in the mountains and when I put it in 4 low the left rear axle pops. What could be causing this? NoRuts

Check to see if you have the limited slip differential. It may be sticking clutch packs.

When I was in my truck, I thought it was the rear clicking...when I put it on a lift, I found it was the front driveshaft where it connected to the transfer case.
Thanks guy's I'll take a gander at your suggestions. How do you check if it is limited slip? Don't know much about the Quadra system. How do you check gear ratio? Looks like it has the 8.25 rear diff. Not sure on the front. NoRuts

@outlaw450 I have a 2000 w quadra drive. Mine would make noise but was worse in Lo. I could have sworn it was the rear till I got it on the lift. I changed rear diff fluid, front diff fluid, and transfer case fluid....then checked the front driveshaft...bingo
