Auxiliary fan delete
Hello
I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right forum. I apologize if I’m not. ( my first time )
i have a 02 wj Cherokee
my auxiliary fan stop working and wanted to put in a clutch fan. Can anyone tell me what kind I should look for? I saw on YouTube a guy said he got one from a pickup truck. But he didn’t say what kind.
Any help would be appreciated
thank you

This is the XJ section. For the 84-01 Cherokee. There is a separate section for the Grand Cherokees. Welcome to the forum. I have no ideas for your issue. I have a regular Cherokee.

The WJ has a water pump hub with the right threads on it to fit the clutch fan assembly from a ZJ, earlier Grand Cherokee. Find a good unit in the junkyard. Done. However, I think you're going to need that electric fan as well.
Did this exact conversion on my WJ. Purchased a new clutch unit for a '99, got the fan blades off a WJ from a local salvage yard. Works okay. Temp tends to sit around 205-210 pretty consistently. I would like to figure out the operation of hte electric fan, but I think that will take a control module swap which I haven't tried yet.

That's easy to fix. Cut the upper radiator hose and install an aluminum sleeve in it with a temp sensor. Run that thru a relay to the fan. Then the fan will run on high anytime the coolant temp is above the sensor's setpoint. This setup has been used on trucks for decades.
