Brake parts cleaner to wash it out.
Factory suggested gear oil. Be sure you have correct feeler gauges to read the gap requirements, I had to get two sets.
" Dana 35 - 3.5 Pints (1.66L) SAE 75W-90
-Dana 44 - 4.0 Pints (1.89L) SAE 75W-90
-Chrysler 8.25 - 4.4 Pints (2.0L) SAE 75W-90
For towing and off-road use SAE 75-140 synthetic"

This backyard mechanic says use kerosene. Works very well and is cheaper than brake cleaner. It washes off easily with a garden hose, although I wouldn't recommend THAT for the diff! The kero will eventually evaporate.

Hi CherokeeHoonigan,
We recommend:
80W-90 conventional gear oil for cold climates
85W-140 conventional gear oil for warm climates
Brake cleaner works well to clean the diff. There are some non toxic orange cleaners in the auto parts stores that work well too.
