Has anybody converted their old tail light assemblies to LED lights? It seems if I have to do electrical wiring to fix old rotten plastic bulb holders, why not upgrade to LED? The rear tail light assembly has 3 bulbs, Brake, Reverse and Turn Signal. In all 3, the plastic inside bulb housing is old and rotten. 92 Cherokee. Thanks
OK i will share what I learned, may help someone with broken and rotten tail light sockets. The conversion to LED is not so simple since you have Voltage difference, too complicated. So I just want to fix the light socket I have. I did find a quick fix to the inside connector of the broken socket. The internet has replacement OEM sockets, but they all look like DUAL CONTACT types, which is great for the running light/brake light, but the other two lights (reverse and turn signal) are SINGLE CONTACT. I went to my local auto parts store and bought a generic, Universal, SINGLE CONTACT 3/4 socket, part number 1156. I removed the inside wire and spring from the socket, and it fit perfectly inside my jeep's original socket. Voila, back in business. Part cost $4. Hope this helps someone.
