Default another electrical issue please help

hello everyone

i have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.0l , i have lots of things to do to it but need to start with what i feel are the more urgent issues.

i am having issues with the passenger side doors not being able to go up and down. if it was just the switch i'd think i could control it still from either that doors switch or the master switch. have a new master switch (reconditioned) and when i hooked it up it made no difference.

i know its very common for a wire to be broken in the door jams either on the passenger side or the drivers side that causes this issue. i don't have easy access to them and with my back issues have a hard time doing it. however if i knew which wires to look for and how to test i might have some luck. i know the window works cause the mechanic had them up and down but had to apply the power to the window unit itself.

which colored wires are the ones i should be looking at, i assume one wire provides the power to roll it up an the opposite provides power to roll it down i just don't know which wires to check for breaks and or how to test them, i might not even have the right tools to check them i don't know.

please do not give me a wiring diagram, i don't understand them and this year jeep don't seem to match a lot of the ones in the video's on how to do stuff.

any help would be appreciated.

You are mistaken about the way power is supplied to the window motors. To reverse direction the polarity is reversed, so not only do you need power to both wires, but they also have to ground alternately. That's all done in the switches. They are quite complicated because each window is controlled by 2 sources, it's own control switch and the master on the driver's door. The last time I saw a schematic for the driver's door module, there was a bunch of diodes in it and not all of them were LEDs. Some were blocking diodes for the polarity changes so that signals from the door modules wouldn't feed thru the master module.

so what does that mean? I keep reading the main or common reason for this issue is a broken wire and the child lock button failing. since i had a new switch to test with i don't think its the child lock but a broken wire and I just don't know which ones to be looking at.

would you suggest to get a new passenger door switch think those can be had for like 20 bucks and see what happens. do you really think it could be just the front door switch causing issues for both front and back windows?
