Default New window switch issue not the usual

Ok so my window switches don't work for the passenger doors I can move them from the drivers door but that's it. I know that to fix this the switch can be bypassed by connecting the Yellow and Tan wiring in the kick panel per this link and many others

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/w...-help-1122384/

So I spliced the wires together and when I went to test it I turned the key to ON and the lights were very dim. And the splicing wire got extremely hot. I quickly turned the key off and then took apart my splice.

I then stripped both wires and my splice wire. I then turned the car on and touched the splice wire the both the yellow and the tan (re installing the splice essentially) and the same thing. The radio that was on, shut off due to lack of power I assume and the lights went very dim again.

So my question is what could cause this and is there another way to bypass the window lock switch.

Right now I reconnected everything and the windows still work fine from the driver door but not at all from the others.

Take the switch control apart and re solder the connections inside. There's a write up here somewhere

Default I have tried that

I tried that. That's why I tried the bypass in the first place. I pulled it apart and I did re solder them. I'm wondering if I possibly connected 2 of the points. Ill take it apart again this weekend and double check.

I will do that this time.

On the 2 pins that get resoldered when checking continuity it should be continuous when the window lock is open and non-contiguous with the window lock closed correct?
