Default Pulling motor out.

I'm pulling the 4.0 out of my automatic 88 cherokee. Can i pull the motor and tranny at the same time or do i have to detach the tranny and pull it seperately? I'm pulling both of them either way.
I'm starting on this today so if you have any tips or should knows on pulling the motor let me know, thanks

if you don't have a really good engine crane and a paved or concrete rolling surface....separate the engine and trans.

I've done both, pulled the engine and trans out of a 98 and pulled just the engine out of my 92. Was much easier to pull both at once. You'll want a decent sized engine hoist and at least 1 extra set of hands.

If you are on a flat hard surface with a good engine hoist or good tree and chain it is better to pull both less work for you and find it better to remove the hood gives you more room to work...

Way too much work. Remove radiator. Support trans, remove engine. Lay the power steering pump where the air cleaner WAS and the AC compressor where the battery WAS.

I didn't have to remove the radiator or the hood when I pulled just the engine.

Default Stupid question

How do you disconnect the metal hose that goes to the lower radiator part? its got those plastic things sticking out of each side where it looks like it should disconnect. Those same type of disconnects are running to the fuel rail as well. I just don't want to break them so im checking to see the proper way to remove them

Most if not all auto part stores and harbor freight sell the fuel line disconnects, same can be used on the trans cooler lines.

Was damn tight getting it back in, had to pull the upper rad support bracket to get the harmonic balancer to clear.
