Default air gap on crank sensor?

i got my crank and cam sensors from the dealer today for my 96 gc..4.0 engine...the crank sensor just has one mounting bolt...do i need to set an air gap on this or just install it?

It should have a paper wafer on it that automatically sets the gap when you install it and gets ripped off when you start it. If it doesn't, you can get one from the dealers parts dept. At least that's what I've been told and repair manuals support this. IDK because I've not had the occasion to actually change one myself.

thats what i thought too..the ones i saw online had 2 bolts..but i gave the dealer my vin number and he said this is the right one...when i got home i looked at my jeep and he was right...mine mounts with 1 bolt..and it didnt come with the air gap sticker..thats why i thought this one isnt adjustable..the ones i saw online with 2 bolts came with a sticker that rips off as soon as you crank the engine

It's entirely possible there was a plastic case change that allows it to self-locate. With CAD involved, anything's possible.

I don't remember any of mine having the paper wafer. But I have seen that on the crank sensor on the 3.3 Chrysler minivans.
