964WD Laredo Speed sensor switch question
Hello everyone,
So we have been told by a garage to where we took my GC that the above mentioned switch needs replacing and that it is the reason why the car shifts "oddly" (like too late or too early, doesn't always go into overdrive). We just replaced the tranny fluid so that's not the issue.
I did some research and figurrd out that there are 2 switches that get commonly called that. One os on th TC and one is further forward (sorry I don't know the name of the piece). And that neither really affect how the transmission shifts.
Now I am confused. Do I trust the garage or the Interwebz? It's only a $40 part so I'll probably just replace it anyway but I would still like to know what it does.

Since your transmission is electronically shifted it needs a reference signal from the turbine speed sensor and vehicle speed sensor so it can determine the proper gear to be in. If the computer is receiving bad information from the sensors it will make bad decisions and cause erratic shifting.

This is the video I keep running into.
Is this the right switch? One of the switches? If so, which is the other one?
My husband also just went to O'reillys and they couldn't figure it out. On the diagnostic report it says the vss on the transfer case but they found a different one under that reference.

On my 94 it was shifting very oddly and kicking in and out of OD. It turned out to be the speed sensor on the transfercase. From what I was told the sensor on the transmission is for the speedometer and the one on the transfercase is for the transmission shifting on a 4x4.
