Default 93 Grand Cherokee delayed shifting

I just purchased a 93 grand Cherokee with 139k on it. I noticed when I was driving it that it shifts late in 1st and 2nd gear, all the other geared shift fine. First gear doesn't shift until about 3k at 25 mph and 2nd gear doesn't shift till about 3200 rpm and 49 mph.. I've noticed that it really doesn't matter what the rpms are because I've coasted down a hill In neutral and as long as I'm going over 49 mph it will shift right to 3rd gear, likewise if I'm going over 25 mph it will shift right to 2nd, I've checked the tps and it was only.getting 3.76 volts at wot. So I went out and replaced it only.to find out that they new one is only getting 3.8 volts. I was wondering if maybe my throttle cable needs adjusted or what I can do to get the volts up to 4.5 like it should be... When I check the fault codes I believe the codes 24,55 come up which correlates with the low tps voltage... Also I noticed if I'm driving and pop it into neutral the engine idle pulsates from 400-1100 rpm instead of a constant idle. I'm just trying to.figure everything out before I go waste more money on sensors that might be just fine.

Governor pressure control solenoid....common fault for those symptoms.

So your saying that could possibly explain why the tps isn't getting the right amount of volts? Id really like to fix that before I touch anything else so I can totally rule that out..

Did you check the tranny fluid level with the Jeep in neutral.

I checked it again it was a little low filled it up and still same results... Also does anyone know if the transmision is electronic or has a modulator run by vacuume. It's a 93 grand Cherokee limited with a 5.2 in it. Thanks

I believe the 1-2 shift is controlled by the valve body and the 2-3 and 3-4 by soleniods and the TCM. Try adjusting the trans throttle cable. the TCM takes inputs from vehicle speed and throttle position.

Well I rechecked the transmission fluid and filled it all the way to the top of the "ok" mark and I adjusted the transmission throttle cable as well and it improved a good bit now its shifting out of 1st gear at 2200 rpm at 19-20 mph and 2nd gear at 2800 rpm at 40 mph.. first gear seems to be right where it should be however second gear still seems to be a little late.. I was wondering if anyone would happen to know where the actual shift points should be and furthermore I plan on flushing the system and changing the filter to see of that will take care of everything else

From your information we can conclude that your tranny is a 46RH. A heavy duty transmission which is hydraulically controlled, except from the over drive function. This transmission is strong, but notorious for internal leaking seals. Replace the filter and keep the fluid level at maximum.

I have yet to see any puddles of it nor have I really drove it much this week (i carpool every other week) so ill drove it today and ill check the levels again... And that was my reasoning for asking about the Transmission possibly being run by vacuum because if I'm losing fluid but no puddles It could be sucking to the transfer case that uses atf also. And if it has a modulator that uses vacuum, it could suck up the atf and the motor will just burn it off. But like I said haven't run it enough to see if its losing fluid other than the fact that I don't have any puddles under my car.

Yeah I didn't see any puddles either, you know what happened to me, the darn cooling tank for the tranny cracked inside the radiator sending tranny fluid into the cooling system.

I kept loosing a quart with no puddle under the truck. Got it all fixed last Friday, she shifts like butter now.

So I drove it a couple days now and so far i haven't lost any transmission fluid so that's good however i still haven't figured out the tps issue being that it doesn't get the correct volts.. I would rather try to figure that out before i go out buying anymore sensors seeing that you cant exactly return them lol. Also Ive noticed that while I'm driving the day, month, time on my VIC resets itself as if i took the battery cable off.. So I'm guessing i have a short somewhere along the line with that, and then ill have to start conquering the car alarm part.. Just too cold out right now to sit outside and carefully inspect the wiring harnesses in the doors.
