4wd drive problem on my 99 laredo
Just bought a 1999 gc laredo with a 4.7 v8. bought at auction and got it hella cheap. Has 162k on it.
Has the 4 wheel all time and nuetral and 4lo shifter. does not drive front tires in 4 all time and when i put it in 4lo it gears lo, but it seems like it does not turn fronts either i think. Has abs light on when you go faster than 45mph and then goes off a key cycle. (any significance?) really squirrrly in *** end, always wants to shoot right like right rear is overcompensating?????
checked transfer and cant touch fluid level at all? uh oh. Would like to know how to find out for sure what it is. I am a great honda guy (sorry) so i can rip out anything broke and replace it no prob.
Any help would be AWESOME guys. I am new to jeeps but wanna learn. Wife loves this truck and its a good looking truck!!!!

i filled up the transfer case and it was a good quart and then some low.
Checked front and rear diffs and they were both good. Still same symptoms. Abs light could cause this?
Any ideas would be awesome.

About all I can help you with is to tell you that AWD does not spin the front tires till the rear slip. So it wont act like it is in 4X4 until the rear spin.
Now 4X4 low should spin the front all the time. Get in some loose dirt, mud, snow, and see what it does. And no, abs shouldnt effect it.

Does not spin front tires at all in the 10" of snow we just got in Iowa. It does feel like it gears down in 4 low but does not spin fronts either in snow.

I have the same problem in mine. Would love to know how to fix this. I have a hill for a driveway and i found out i didnt have 4wheel drive when i could not make it up the drive. Someone told me it might be the front driveshaft not connected to the transfer case? but i have no idea. Hope you get an answer soon!!
