Default 46rh transmission issues

I have the 46rh transmission and am having issues with the overdrive. The overdrive off button wouldn't do anything unless I have my cruise control turned on. I was ok with that, but I wasn't sure why. Now all of a sudden the overdrive off doesn't do anything today. It worked fine this morning, but nothing on my way home. Anyone have this issue or answers as to what could be causing this?

Do you have engine braking on a manual downshift?

In that case the O/D is probably okay and the problem is electrical. That's about the extent of my knowledge.

You think possibly a voltage issue? I just found out my alternator is bad.

Yes, a drop in system voltage can cause a lot of weird stuff to happen. Even a poor connection from the battery and the PDC or a bad ground can cause odd stuff.
