Does anybody know if the 42re transmission had a breather on it?

It would have to or the fluid would vent out the dipstick tube.

That's what I was thinking. But I can't find where it would be. It's really starting to annoy me. I just had to flush it out. Cause the filter was packed with sand. It's fine now but I need to run a longer breather line to keep that from happening again. Feeling annoyed.

I think the vent is just a capped fitting on top of the trans case. If so, it should have a hose on it instead. I'm only going by what GM uses and now I'm wondering about the t-case. I know the diffs have long hoses, but IDK about the trans and T/C.

Have you been running in the desert in a lot of dust? I seems to me the only way to get sand in the transmission is down the dipstick tube, either because it wasn't down tight or by sabotage. No, wait! You don't have deserts in Ohio, do you? Maybe dusty dirt roads?

Bundy hill Michigan. It's mainly Sandy type mud. Never got deep enough to get it in the dip stick. I swamped it pretty good last fall. Enough to where I had to remove all the carpet in it to let it dry out. That's the only way I'm thinking and may have gotten in. But I can't for the life of me find the vent.
