I'm 69 years old and biased, but I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about buying a restored 60's car and just driving it and repairing it until I can't anymore and then turning in my liscence! Maybe I should build a 60 mph enclosed wheelchair.

My 2000 WJ is probably my last newer car anyway!

Sorry to rant!
That would be a cool wheelchair ..lol I 34 and have a 52 ford tudor customline with a 93 cobra drivetrain complete with fuel injection and disk breaks

I agree dave 1123, but it's unavoidable buying a car today with too much technology and I'm 43 and up on my technology. I wouldn't mind having a 60 myself.

In 1989, I was looking to buy a new Wrangler. I thought, you know, rubber floor mats and canvas seats, simple 4 banger. HUH? No such thing! Back then, they still had the "delete" option where you could buy a car without options you didn't want. Not today! Even the cheapest car has stuff the I don't want. The new Grand Cherokee has electronic terrain response, one button control of transfer case and suspension. Selectrac is all I need!

Default It's a lemon!

I Just leased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I put 5K down to keep my monthly payments manageable. Got it on Friday evening on May 17thand that very same night I started to experiencing problems with the centerconsole. It goes blank and I can hear the radio, change stations but cannot seeanything. Sometimes it also freezes and I cannot control anything: volume, stations, uconnec and the navigation. It’s just a mess. All I can do is turn off the car and wait abut five minutes and everything comes back again. I brought it back to thedealership and they cannot reproduce the problem since it is sporadic. The vehicle is otherwise just beautiful. However, I traded in my 2005 Toyota Avalon that I never had ANY problems for this lemon. I am already regretting the decision.

[QUOTE=REPZ06;2378304]New to the forum first post wish it wasn't a post about a problem already, only had the car for two weeks. I recently noticed the center screen and the odometer screen both go blank for no reason. It usually comes right back but today it didn't it stayed totally blank. Its a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 6 cyl I called the dealership who can't see the car til Thursday of next week. I was wondering if this was an issue in the past or if this is new for the 2014 model. Hope its not a start of a major electrical problem.

I've learned over the years not to buy the first year of a model change. There are always problems that they have to work out. My 67 Camero was the exception, although most of the parts were used in the 66 Nova. The 350 motor was new, but I never had a problem with it.

Suggestion; Let the service manager use it for a couple of days. He'll find the problem. Or maybe that's why they are so backlogged on service.

The 14 gc is really nice, maybe not exactly a jeep but a real nice driver. I work at a dealer and i haven't seen this issue yet but I'm sure there will be flash for it soon.

How are you liking thatnew shifter, little weird to get used to. The sound system in those things is awesome though.

Some people feel that it is not a good idea to purchase the first year model whenever there is a new model. While there might be some truth to that it is also a question corporate responsibility. It would have been preferable that Jeep waits a few more months and test this new product more closely. Instead they decided to release the 2014 model in the spring of 2013. This comes down to lack of quality control. Why rush and then find problems? I think and hope that there is a recall. Otherwise we will be fighting with this company individually. I am getting ready to send a complaint to Chrysler and see what they say.

Don't forget it's run by Italians now.

I just leased a 2014 GC a day ago - today the center console went blank. I tried turning the car on and off a few times, but nada. I have no music, but at least the AC came on. My last new car was a 96 Ford Explorer which I still have in the drive way and was going to hand off to my 16 year old son. He may have to wait...taking the car to the dealer tomorrow. Very disappointing.

I am continuing having the same problem. And as Maury, I am also very disappointed. I have taken my Jeep three times to the dealership and each time they have updated the center console with the “latest” version of the software. Last week, while on vacation, I went to Boston and was using the GPS when the screen went completely blank. Luckily I have GPS on my cellphone and that save the day. I contacted Chrysler again and opened yet another ticket. The company and the dealership have been responsive, but unable to resolve the problem. I could have chosen almost any SUV and decided to get the Jeep. What a mistake!

Keep in mind that this is a brand new vehical with a completely new design. Mechanics haven't had enough experience with them yet to correct new issues. "Flashing the newest version" is probably just their best guess, but I can take a guess and say that it's most likely a hardware issue. If I were you though I would be asking for a replacement vehical all together.

My Cherokee is back in the shop today still having issues with the screens going blank , but now I also have an issue with the 8 speed transmission . While driving it shifts way to soon . Making the motor feel sluggish . At 35 mph it's in 8th gear already . I left it at Merrick Dodge this morning at 7:30am at 5pm they told me they need it for another day . They couldn't give me a loaner either . I'm very disappointed with this truck . I think I got a lemon
