hi I have just removed the center console on my 2004 grand Cherokee 2.7 crd diesel and have noticed the center cable is not connected what does this cable do and what is it connected to on the gearbox?? the gearbox seems to work as it should except for some intermittent jerky gear changes on kickdown at slow speeds
upon further investigation it appears to hook into a green bracket that is connected to the gear selector, i tried pulling it when driving to work last night but it didn't appear to do anything ( the inner has about 3 inches of travel and appears to be connected to something spring loaded under the bonnet) im puzzeled!!

Well, first of all, you said the magic word, "diesel". We now know it's a European model and most of us don't have a clue. Well, there are a few people on the forum who might know.

That being said, welcome to CF!

I personally don't have a clue as to what gearbox you have, so I can't tell you anything, but hang on a while and someone will come to your rescue. BTW, your vehicle model, engine size, type, and your location give a lot of information that will help diagnose your problem.
