I hate to admit that it has been over 2 months since I have updated or posted anything, but everything is together, and my motor is ready to go back in, no hiccups or delays, other than some incorrect bolts on the water-pump pulley, but! I'd love some feedback on the intake and headers, will it be easier to install them on the engine stand, or when the motor is back IN the jeep? I can't seem to find any help or advice on this issues anywhere online. But aside from that, she's ready to be bolted back in. I'll try to update a few pictures, and I'll take some current ones ASAP. I've been loaded down with starting a new job and the holidays, so sorry about the long delay in posts!!

Those are pictures of the machined and primed block, new pistons, the rods were machined, cam was replaced, crank was simply polished, and the close up of the cylinder that you see, that was the #1 cylinder, it had to be cut out and replaced! Everything bored .030 over, head was warped and refinished, a number of the valves had to be replaced, I added a picture of the bend pushrods vs. a new one, and my new engine hoist!! Which I put together in the living room because it's cold outside. Haha!

You must have a very special woman to allow you to use the living room as a workshop! How did you manage that? My wife had a stroke when I floated my rowboat in the swimming pool to check where my leak was.

Bent pushrods show valve/piston contact. Did it bend the valves? Just asking.

FYI. You have to watch using an engine stand with any larger cubic inch inline 6. They've been known to break them as they are so heavy with their weight being carried in a single plane.

Alrighty, so I was looking at your thread. My 2002 needs the engine fixed as It threw a connecting rod. I am curious as to what yours cost. I still have to dig into the engine to find out what is wrong all in all.

Also, I saw you said something about a 96 cherokee engine? I thought they wouldn't work. I have an offer for a 97 Grand Cherokee motor with only 30K miles on it, but I heard they won't work either for a 99-04 GC. This is correct, right?

Yeah, they moved the motor mounting bosses in 99 so the earlier blocks won't fit. They also moved the oil filter because it was in the way of the motor mounts. I think I was told they had to change the location so the 4.7 would fit.

Thank you for your service. I'm a vet too. US Navy 62-66. USS Wasp around Cuba.

Speaking of Georgia, have you seen Atlanta in the snow? Not a good time for those people. I live that **** every day.
