Hi, i have a litle hole in my radiator, how do i remove the oil cooler hose on the radiator? Do i need some special tools to attach the oil hose? Could i remove the oil hose on the radiator before i take it out or do i need to remove the hose from the gearbox? Is there som good online step by step? the one at jeep4x4center is good, but there is only one line that if there is a oil cooler the lines must be taken out carefully.

 

There are two types of automatic transmission oil
coolers:
² An oil-to-coolant type. This is supplied as standard
equipment on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
It is mounted in the radiator outlet tank.
² An external auxiliary oil-to-air cooler. This is supplied
as optional equipment. It is mounted in front of
the radiator and air conditioning condenser and behind
the grille (Fig. 52).
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
(2) Remove the grill. Refer to Group 23, Body.
(3) Remove the bumper fascia. Refer to Group 23,
Body.
(4) Remove the grill opening reinforcement panel.
Refer to Group 23, Body.
(5) Remove two bracket bolts and three brace bolts
(Fig. 52).
(6) Remove the retaining clip from the cooler lines
(Fig. 52).
(7) Place a drain pan under the cooler.
(8) Disconnect the upper hose clamp at cooler line
(Fig. 53). Separate the line from the rubber hose.
(9) Position the cooler to gain access to lower hose.
The cooler lines are routed through a rubber seal
located on the side of radiator. Be careful not to cut or
tear this seal when positioning cooler for lower hose
removal.
(10) Remove lower hose clamp and hose from
cooler.
(11) Remove cooler from vehicle.

I have the one thats mounted in the radiator outlet tank. I see you have this "(Fig. 53). Separate the line from the rubber hose" do you have a link to that? i cant figure out how to take the oil cooler hose/lines apart from the radiator, i'm sure its easy, but i have never done this before and since i'm in my first replace of the thermostat (first ever ;-) ) today i think i will try to replace the radiator later this summer since i have a litle leak (1/2 liter every 2 weeks). But before i start on that i need to know how to do it :-)

okey i have done that, thanx. But could i try radiator fix (botle with something) or could that mess up waterpump etc? I dont care if it only mess up the radiator.

If I'm seeing the pics correctly the top picture you will need a special tool (the kind you use on fuel lines, forgot the name of it, you can get it at auto parts stores for a few bucks) to remove it. The bottom picture just use a adjustable wrench.

 

Just use a 16mm wrench (I think that is the size) for the top cooler line and pinch the yellow tabs on the quick connector for the lower line. The lower nipple does not come off.

 

Must be nice to have a memory and remember what stuff is called.....lol
