Question 07 GC won't start

My 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo will not start and no interior lights, when I opened the glovebox to get manual light in there was dim and blinking at a steady pace. Battery terminals are clean, battery at 12V. When key is turned on gauges and dash lights flash or blink on & off rapidly.Any ideas?

Sorry about the lack of response, most guys here don't have anything that new. I would suspect it may have something to do with the security system, but that's just a shot in the dark. What's your voltmeter reading? If you don't have a dash meter, check it at the distribution (fuse and relay) panel, not the battery.

Hey Dave, Thanks for the reply. Well I took the battery to Interstate (since it was the original - 6 yrs old) and had it tested. It showed full voltage yet it would only provide 5 amps of cranking power (Rated for 730 cold cranking amps) Everything works fine now with the new battery, although my wallet is $170 lighter. Happy to have it back to normal.

Thanks and God bless,
Chris

PS my other Jeeps are 02 Liberty and 01 Cherokee XJ. Wife gets the 'new' ride!

A battery that was 6 years old was not the first clue? In the future, 12 volts with no load on the battery means NOTHING. You have to load test it in order to get real readings.
