Default 05 Grand Cherokee CRD - 4WD error

Hi All, recently got a 05 WK Grand Cherokee CRD and love the vehicle but a few issues lately. When I try engage 4WD Low with the silver lift up lever I get an error on the display " service 4wd system". Just won't engage. Have read a bit about taking fuses out but no luck. Today we hooked up a hire trailer and lost left side lights on the jeep whilst driving. Found a blown 10a fuse and replaced it. All lights fine, then later whilst driving the reading lights came on and we cant seem to get them switched off. Any help appreciated.

Light issue now sorted. Can't believe with all the knowledge on this forum nobody has posted a single reply to my 2 posts.

That's because it's a WK and a CRD. Most guys here haven't done much, if anything, with them yet.

My 2000 WJ is about as complicated as I ever want to get. Try jeepgarage.com

This is NOT just an issue for the diesel... it's an issue with any WK Grand Cherokee with any 4X4 system other than Quadra-Trac I (any one w/ Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II)... there's some sort of recall for that switch that requires a re-flash of the ECU (computer module). This also causes the 'SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM' message to display on the VIC (Vehicle Info. Center)... I'd suggest getting that recall performed... we're having the same issue on our '05 WK with the 4.7 Power-Tech V8 and we haven't yet had the recall performed...
