This is interesting. What are your plans for the area in front of the doors?

Basically going to be a full size bed, the feet will have to be between the wheel wells. The measurements of the sleeping area are 5 ft x 7-1/2 ft. and 4 ft. between the wheel wells. I don't have a lot of plans for the interior other than trying to make it as good as possible. I do plan on making the area between the wheel wells the main storage area for the camp set-up Tot's, tent, toilet, cooler to keep the weight over the wheels. Once removed we will lay the mattress back down

The interior will defiantly be my biggest challenge as I have not done any interior work before. I have plenty of auto body and paint experience.

I meant the body panels in front of the rear doors. As far as storage, I would suggest the bed be placed on a frame above the wheel wells. Then place a couple drawers under the bed for storage. Sounds like a pita to pull all gear out to sleep.

I have gutted the front doors and plan on using them to carry the body lines to the front. Then I will use sheet metal to replace the windshield and also use sheet metal to close off the bottom part to met-up with the contour from the front doors.

I would rather have the head room in the cab rather than permanent storage. It will just be 4 tubs of camping gear that would need to be set out side. (set-up) I am hoping to some day ad a roof top tent for it. That way a family of 5 could use it for camping and it would set up quickly.

You've thought this out. I'm impressed. Now hurry up! I look forward to seeing this completed.

Do you want it kinda pimped out or more functional? You could take it to a upholsterer and have them vinyl up some side panels etc. Or just use those cheap old school wood panels that houses in the 80's had. You're best bet would be to look at a few RV stores etc for little lighting etc.

I've watched a lot of Extreme 4x4/Muscle Car episodes. They have had a lot of shows that they've done custom fiberglass work and I am very curios to how I might be able to form my own fiber glass trim pieces to fix the changes in the interior so that a lot of it will look like the inside of an XJ originally might have if this was done at the factory (??? a thought).

But the only thing I am sure of doing is to take some ply-wood and fit to the floor and also purchase some of that cheap thin flooring they sell at Home depot to make the floor look good. Also plan on getting some of the foam board insulation (highest moisture resistance)to cut into the voids in the framing of the floor, before the floor is installed.

Default Trailer Jack

I wanted to make my trailer jack removable. So these pics kind of show how I did it. I have it so that I can lock it in the two positions.

Default Camper build

I still am in the process of working on it. But with so many things buying for time it gets put on the back burner. I've been modifying my Xj more than working on the camper. Project around the house, Wheeling, work, I have so many excuses but do intend on getting back on it soon.

another thing is with how busy I've been I don't update on this site. I just hang out once in a while when I get alerts. I post all my updates on CherokeeTalk forum since that is the original start of it and every little aspect of my build is listed there. Just not as active here Sorry. If you are a member of that forum it would be easy enough to see the thread. Last thing I've worked on was the rear bumper/double swing out tire/gas/water/ reciever for bike carrier. We are currently putting a lift on my friends brothers 98 Xj, hopefully I'll get motivated to get back to it soon. Thanks for your interest. And please post a link to your build if you document yours, I really would be interested to see any ideas you have.
