Default XJ to Replace the Ranger as Trail Rig

Hey guys,

As I said in my intro thread, I bought this jeep bone stock in early December, 2013. Here are a couple of pics of it right after I brought it home next to my DD and ex-trail rig.

Pulled the molding off pretty quickly since it was falling off anyway.

The jeep has around 207k miles on the clock and rust on the driver side rocker and passenger side rear. She wasn't bought to stay stock so after about a week she was laid up in the garage to put on a 4.5" rough country lift and a TNT customs track bar.

Here is a pic of the turnout.

Was running the Ranger wheels and tires for a bit to test it out, leaving the Ranger undriveable because the puny stock Jeep wheels didn't fit. Cut the fenders on the jeep also to clear the 33's. Still need to cut a bit more. I am actually really impressed at the short arm kits ability to flex. (No swaybars of course)

Shortly after, I picked up some TSLs from good 'ol craigslist and threw them on the jeep. Fenders need to be trimmed more but I am happy with how the Jeep performs.

Right now she is in the garage again awaiting some cheap steel bumpers so I can have some towpoints.

Future plans include welding the rear end and stiffening the unibody. Then, the big things will take a little while. I already have a D44 in the garage and a Ford 9. Eventually I will be running 37s and a Bronco radius arm setup at around the same 4.5" lift height (more cutting). After that swap is done I am sure I will come up with something to change.

Here is a pic of my buddy's (the guy in the orange hat) Ranger that this Jeep will have to keep up with:
2000 Ranger XLT on D44 and Ford 9 and 38.5" boggers.

How do you like those Wrangler MT/R? Are they good on the street?

I like them a lot. They perform reasonably well offroad and handle well on road. However, a common complaint is that they get exponentially louder as they wear and I would have to agree. Loud tires don't really bother me though.
