soooo, I just got done ordering these

which are going to be mounted to these

My shocks bottom out now, and hang down so low.
This should work out great. not going to sacrifice shock length, and Ill gain the ground clearance.
And of course plate the rear frame to reinforce the shock mount, stiffen it up, and have reinforcement for future coil mounting....

I think this is the best way to do it. I want the frame plated anyway, and it will make a very solid foundation. This will also prove a good foundation if I ever want to go to a coilover or air shock.
This little project wil include new bumpstop setup for the rear, and start the whole project of making new rear wheel tubs and retrimming the rear.
By the way rear shock hoops are from Liquid Iron Industries, and the rear stiffeners from HD Offroad.

my shocks suck lol. They are crappy rustys shocks. They do their job, they just dont have a very good ride. At some point it will have bilsteins or FOA's.
For right now they are a good length though. my front hits the bumpstop as the shock bottoms out, and it will just about drop the shock to the end. Actually the front binds before the shock is fully extended. Thats why it will be a 3 link at some point.
Ill measure them later today for you.
Just remember, it doesnt really matter, get the axle in place where you want it, and measure to your x-member. Theres nothing special about the length.

Haha thx man and ya im just wondering for comparisen. If seen ur jeep flex out and its awesome! I finished mine up last night. Ended up haveing lowers 35.5" in length. But i cant really flex it out tell i get new brake lines and shocks. Shocks are just way to short.... And brake lines are 50$ so im workin towards them slowly.
Its all good. Like the bump stops. Heres wha i built this weekend. Well friday night too...
Shes got decent flex. Just need longer shocks by far! And new break lines.
Ps sry to kinda hi jack ur thread. Ill leave it be now haha my bad.

I had to work all day saturday, but I got some work done when I got home
got the hoops mocked up

got them notched and the legs welded on

welded everything up and installed shocks

Came out pretty good. Im happy with it, I have to flex it out and check for clearance. In the process I noticed my OEM bumps looking a little funny so I started picking at one and it fell off lol. The plate was all rotted, so I had no choice and just ordered these.

Got my bump stops intalled today. It was dark so I didnt get any pics but it worked out well. I tried them out and they stop the tire about an inch maybe, before coming into contact with the fender. so perfect for now.
also to mention to anyone outboarding shocks.
I tested it out, and without bumps I could bottom the shocks up, and down.
They are set to 4.5" up, and 7.5" down. The same suspension cycle uses much more shock when they are mounted out to the wheel.
I could really use a longer shock, but this is fine. I dont need any more down travel in the rear.
on a side note, it also seems to handle a little better with the shocks out.
Ill have pics soon
