Awesome Jeep, one of my favorite builds on here. Chili Pepper Red and flat flares, 2 of my favorite things.

I also have a chili pepper red xj and bought some flat flares after seeing yours. Unfortunately, mine will not fit as my fenders are already trimmed.

The CB also has a PA feature and I mounted a speaker in my front bumper - there are definitely a few practical uses for it and loads of impractical uses. Now I just need to finish my antenna mounting bracket.

Great build, lots of inspiration for me when my bonus come in next year. If you don't mind my asking, what year Caravan is that out of. The U-Picks here in FL are drowning in them, so I should be able to find a good one pretty easy.

I don't know the exact year, but it was the mid-to-late-90s model - the box kind. I did have to bend the brackets on the XJ roof (that held the dome light on) and cut some plastic to make slots for the OHC for it to work. Nothing major though. I also grabbed the wiring harness from the Caravan so I can provide power to the map lights. I did not go the extra mile to make the compass and tripometer work in the XJ.

So I found the 3.73 gearing was right on the line between just right and too high so I decided to take them back and have 4.10s put in. The big reason is I do plan to go with 32-inch tires and the 3.73s would be a bit high. However, now that I've had both, if I were to stick with 31s, I would not go with the 4.10s.

I really like your build! This is right where I want mine to be. Just got my first xj last week and look forward to being a copycat as money and time allow! What tires and width are you thinking of going with when you change to the 32s and what size winch is that? Your build looks great!

I've been a fan of the BF KM2 so I am still considering them as 32x11.5x15, but am also considering the Goodyear MTR in the same size. I have an 8000lb winch.

Since my regear job, I needed a new speedometer gear. So, I purchased one from amazon.com and needed a few more dollars to earn free shipping...so I purchased some PIAA driving lights. Now I can finally make use of that light mounting bar I've had!

I'm currently using the included PIAA switch until I can find an OEM fog lamp switch from the junkyard.

I finally got my CB antenna mount fabricated, painted, and mounted. I'm not the best welder, but it works.

I decided to go with the FireRing cable for the low profile.

Looks good what rpm is the jeep at with 4.10's at 75 with the 31's. I'm thinking of going 4.10 and 33's since I daily drive it a lot... Instead of the 4.56 kinda torn.. Who's gears and install kits did you get and did you do the install ? If not what was the cost. Thanks for the help just installed my bushwacker flat flares due to your build I'm copying haha

75? I don't think my Jeep has ever done 75. At 65 I'm turning around 2500rpm. I originally put in OEM 3.73, but I wanted a little more since I still intend to go up to 32s so I went with Motive 4.10s. I didn't buy the kits or put them in myself - I had a local shop do it so you could call around for quotes as they'll all be fairly similar. The shop owner told me he doesn't put in Yukon anymore since they are no longer made in the US, but rather in India. I originally intended on doing the install myself, but I talked myself out of it since I've never done a ring/pinion job before, the vehicle had turned into a daily driver, and I had some extra cash so I had a shop do it right.

Great example for the rest of us to follow!

I too have a 5 speed, but it is the Peugot. I see a lot of folks complain about it, but I don't have any problems with it. Stuck with the 3.07s as well, but hoping to move up to 3.55s and from 30s to 31s. In low range I don't really have any issues with power, but on the long rolling hills and headwinds I am about 50:50 between 4th and 5th gear.

Excited to get some d-window wheels and Aussie locker in the front soon! Keep the build updates coming!

Thank you!

I did consider just going to 3.55 with the 31s, but the gear/axle shop said the difference would hardly be noticeable so I opted for the 3.73 at the time. I think the 3.73 is a perfect gear ratio for 31s and the 5spd.

I do a lot of highway driving lol and I like to go 75 if I can haha I'm prolly gonna go 4.10 and 33's it should be pretty good all around. 4.56 will just be to much for daily driving I think.

Thanks for the reply
