Hey man, I love these 2 door chop jobs...Ive got one myself.
Im currently looking into options for the rear rollbar/cage, and yours looks nice and simple.

But it seems as though I follow your thread, and all of a sudden you've got a rollbar in the rear and no talk about what it is, where you got it, how you fabbed it...I wanna know!!!!

Im looking into keeping my XJ white, black TJ fender flares (just havent installed them yet), black hood vents, black rear rollbar, and relocate the spare onto the cage and figure out how to minimize the amount of departure angle im losing with my hitch I currently have.

Your jeep has come a long way and it looks simply bad ***!! Great work man!

So...about those TPS (roll cage) reports...

well the roll bar is a Modified YJ roll bar. Cut it down 2 or 4" and added some length to the rear legs.

The jeep has been through hell and back since the last update. Have destroyed numerous u-joints and is dented to ****. Looks like the days are numbered for my truck though, buddy of mines 4 door chop top just got a full Vehicle Inspection issued to him.

I love this build. I'd been thinking of chopping the top on my '96 2-door for awhile now, but it was only causal thought until now. What inspired my thoughts was my father's old '78 Ramcharger, with its removable roof. Now I really wanna do it. Won't happen this year, but I'd like to do it next year.

Has anyone done a removable roof chop? I'd like to cut mine so that the roof over the front seat passengers comes off as well (like that old Ramcharger). I'd make up flanges on the roof and the Jeep so that the roof could be bolted back on for winter. I'd also like to keep the rear seat (and seat belts) so a roll bar would be a must. If anyone has done something like this I'd love to see photos...

How did you mount the bar and extend the rear? you dont have a write up like you did for the rear extensions and taillights, do you? Basically right now, my main goal is the cage because its just simply unsafe for trail riding..so I do very little to none right now.

That sucks about the inspection..Luckily mine is fully legal despite the doors missing and chop top. At least here in TX anyways... Oh and the fact that its dented to **** seems to mean you're using it for what its built for

Yea, The only time I drive the truck is to and from the trail, but I live right in the middle of a city so it's hard to not be seen by the cops.

As for the roll bar, I just cut the 2 or 4" off the bottom and welded it right to the floor, same for the rear.

How did your buddy do that chop? I saw the pics but its a little confusing. Did he just weld angle iron to the roof and build off of that? Any more pics of that?

Your Jeep on the other hand is looking awesome. I love the tail lights and your photography is amazing. Ill most likely be PM'ing you with some photoshop questions soon!

Yea with buddys 4 door all we used was some lighter angle iron and built off of that. Neither of the trucks are around anymore so I won't be able to get anymore pictures but if you have any more questions about either truck I'll try to answer them.

As for the photos a buddy of mine took them and did most of the editing. I do know my way around photoshop so if you have a question ask away.

Matt

are you thinking of eventually running a rear coil setup, like your buddy?
