"Ruby Red" Build (*PICS*)
Well, I'm finally starting my build thread. It's a little late seeing as how I've had my baby for over a year now, but better late then never, right?
I bought this beauty (named her Ruby) off of a spoiled brat from Oak Park, CA who got a brand new Ram 1500 (overly huge truck). His grandparents were the original owner and he just wanted it gone. $200 bucks later she was mine! Now she didn't start up right away so I had to do some work on her.
So far I have:
-Fixed multiple fuel leaks
-Replaced most of the fuel injectors
-Replaced most of the vacuum lines
-New throttle cable
-New rocker arm cover gasket
-New front break calipers
-Replaced the power steering pump
-New coolant pressure bottle (who hasn't)
-Replaced most of the stock emblems (idiot owner b4 me ripped a lot of them off)
-Swapped out the horrible ABS system with a regular power brake system (FAVORITE THING I'VE DONE)
-New Fuel filter
-Installed a brush guard I found at a pick-n-pull
-Hella 500 driving lights
Ok, so that's about what I've done to her so far, as you can see most of it was necessary just to get her running right and reliable. Now I can finally start beefing her up with upgrades and what not.
This pic is from soon after I bought Ruby
In the middle of replacing the power steering pump
After I installed the Hella's where the stock fogs normally go:
Here's Ruby's first time towing, I got a Suzuki GSE500 for free, doesn't run but my plan is to fix it up:
Then I found this sweet brush guard at a pick-n-pull so I installed that and put the Hella's on the bottom bar:
-Well, that is pretty much what she looks like at the moment thanks for checkin out my XJ!
-Next to come are some BFG A/T's, slightly bigger than the ones I have now (going from 215/75/R15 to 235/75/R15)

NEW BFG's!
Ok so my new BFG A/T's came FedEx today and I want to know what you guys think. Should I put the white lettering on the outside, or the inside so the tires show all black? I have to wait until Thurs. (10/27) to put them on anyway so I'll start a poll. Thanks guys!

Thanks guys, I think I'm goin' with white lettering out, THIS THURS THEY GOIN ON, I'm excited b/c I get to put them on myself in my automotive class with an alignment and all. We have really nice, state of the art equipment at the school. I hope it's not to hard to adjust an XJ's alignment, anyone done it before?

Ok guys, wow, the vote is really close... I'm about 80% on white lettering out, I had someone else tell me:
"If they are BFG's, then have the white lettering showing, any other tire, hide the brand."
I liked that a lot b/c BFG is the greatest.

Raised White Letters Out! I like the look of them and think they would look great on your Jeep (which looks great already)

I'm at school now, after my professor comes back from lunch, we're going to put my BFG's on and do an alignment! Thanks again everyone for your input.
