So I gave my door trim to a buddy and discovered A LOT of rust. I had it duct taped as a quick fix. Then I finally cut it out and replaced with diamond plate. Used spray on Rustoluem bedliner to repaint the area and black RTV to seal the gap. Diamond plate is held on by rivets.

Found out that STP oil filters are bad for the 4.0 so I switched over to NAPA Gold today and topped off the oil.
Started to clean grounds and terminals since cruiser54 recommends it on all Renix jeeps. I'm gonna keep the OEM ground cable on the firewall though.

Changed out all my rear light bulbs since 1 was burnt out and the others are old..
In a few days my XJ is getting a birthday gift...

Today July 16 2013 is my 23rd birthday. It is also my XJ's unoffical birthday. On July 16th 1990 my XJ was sold off the lot to its original owner. I'm only the second owner technically, it floated around a few dealerships before I bought it last year.
For our birthday, I did a car wash and cleaned the interior.
Also installed 2 LED fog lights on the brush guard. I used the stock fog wires and switch. This was my first attempt on wiring on my own. It worked on the first try! All my other wiring stuff had assistance from buddies. Here's the link to the fog lights:

So far I really like the LEDs. They were dirt cheap, easy to install, and seem well built. I haven't tested them off road yet. But on a dark quite road, they worked awesome. They light up everything immediately in front of the jeep from about 11 to 1 o'clock direction. I will get better pics. Since I used the original fog light wiring and switch, they only work with the headlights on.

Finally put on my ZXJ-NY02 decal. I ordered it over 2.5 months ago but I waited until I was done with touching up my paint job. Also had to wait for a break in the heat wave. Also passed NYS inspection today, so cops can stop complaining about my exhaust. Yeah it is loud but it is not modified so it is legal in NY.

Just installed a new set of LEDs for the cluster and shifters. This time I used "white" LEDs. 8 for the cluster and 2 for the shifters. They are 194s for the record. They are brighter than the pics show and I can still read the letters an numbers on the transmission shifter.

Had a good chance to test out the new fog lights on the way to work. These pics are better than the ones in my driveway. Actually had some fog to drive through. I like how these lights work.

Feel free to copy the idea. It's one of the cheapest ways to carry fishing poles. I have it on both sides for me and the wife. Plus they never have to go inside the house so no garage space is used up.

Nothing new to post. I started moving stuff to my new apartment, will talk about that when I actually live there. But I loaded up the back of my Jeep with stuff and got about 19MPG with about 90% highway and 10% town. I'm moving so I can go to community college.

No work to it today. But I did fit a long bed Comanche roll bar in the cargo area. Ripped my headliner on the first try. So I'll need a new headliner eventually. But hey the roll bar fits and gets a new owner tomorrow.

Drove it to U-Haul to pick up my 6x12 cargo trailer, I won't being using the XJ for moving just to get the trailer from U-Haul. It drove fine, no issues. A few hours later I went out for ice cream after the trailer has loaded. Dash lights and shifter lights aren't working... Go to my buddy's house to test out fuses. Turns out the parking light fuse was blown. Good thing I keep extra fuses in my glove box. I suspect my trailer light wiring is messed up somehow. My buddy gave me his Fluke 179 multimeter, maybe now I'll learn more about electrical.
So today I changed a fuse and got a multimeter.
