thanks. with the stock gears i have (3.55's) i chose to do 31's for DD-ing. since its turning more into a trail rig, i want to redo it and 4.10's, 33's and maybe some minor trimming and putting stock flares back on.

well it was a long and short day. jeepcomj came over and helped out ALOT. got the new steering box in. tighten down the control arms and stop the loud popping. found out the zerks i got the the CA's from RC suck! He also helped get the Silencer Alarm taken out finally.
say thats a nice lookin xj there. are you sayin the zerks weren't letting grease in thus no lube, bind, then pop i assume? i'm in the 31" 3.55 club w/ya, i read a very interesting article in wd &suv about xj's and gears by xj owner. it was 99 w/33's & 4.10's. said he picked 4.10's cuase the speedo calibration was almost right on. but after bumpers, a winch, extra parts & so on it left o/d rather unusable. he said curb w/aftermarket goodies was 3500lbs plus i think, said he would do 4.56 and maybe 4.88s if the occasion small trailer was used. just food for thought. oh yeah, really just meant to say nice rig and keep 'er dirty!

@ roughly 8lbs/gallon, and only another few gallons over his (though I don't recall what size he has)...I don't think that would make up the difference over stock.
I'm sure his weighs 3400 or so, but not much more.
heck, my MJ on 35's with alot of extra steel on it only weighs 4350

na didn't know that, only know that this guy published his 99 xj w/6" LA lift, 5 33" tires on alloy's, ARB front bumper, warn 9K winch, and warn swing out rear bumper wieghed just over 3800lbs. he did also mention a stock wieght around 3100lbs. the wieght printed on the inside of your door i think is only your GVWR or gross vehicle weight rating, meaning the maximum weight your vehicle can handle. not what it weighs.
