So we've finally got moved into our own place in Mulliken with a garage. As soon as money permits, rebuild kit for my T case so I can get the SYE in and FINALLY be able to do some wheeling. I'm excited.

Started putting the SYE today. Trying to do it in the Jeep. Tim thinks it'll be easier in the Jeep, I have a different opinion. But we'll try it. Lol. I need a good set of snap ring pliers before continuing. So if anyone near Mulliken/Lansing area has any I can borrow by Sunday it would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you get a set with flat tips fpr earless rings, you can pick up a set at sears for like 15 bucks. The job can be done without them but it's a super P.I.T.A.

It would be way easier to install the kit on the work bench rather than under the jeep. I dropped mine in little more than an hour and it was my first time pulling out a np231. But thats just my two cents.

Good luck!

Thanks! I found an 11pc set online at harbor freight for $20 so thats probably what I'll get. Hopefully it'll have those in it.

So over the weekend i did cut and fold on my rear fenders. It went quite successfully...ish. lol. Had to use the mother of all grinders, but it worked. I started out cutting, and me being little ole me i used the tire as an anchor/prop. Once i started getting to the higher arch i was getting wobbly and it was kinda sketchy so since my boyfriend is stronger he did that....and then cut his finger pretty good. After that he wouldn't let me do it. But it got finished! Lol i'll post pics when its all done, waiting on the weather to warm up so i can throw some undercoat where it was cut and folded.

Oh yeah forgot to post that lol. It wasn't all that bad getting it in while its still in the Jeep. I hate snap rings and the pliers we had were just enough to barely get the job done. Having the right tools makes all the difference. Other than that smooth sailing.

Congrats! Glad y'all got it done. Was curious how well the HF pliers would work. I bought a set for work and after bout two weeks I got pissed and invested in a nice set.

Keep up the good work, hopefully my heep will be as nice as yours soon (as soon as the Mrs. lets me get ahold of the plastic. lol)

Thanks! And yeah we'll have to invest in better ones later, i sent a snap ring flying across the garage O.O lol. Like i said i don't like snap rings.
And i hear that lol, i need a job to support my jeep addiction. Insurance here in Michigan in sooo EXPENSIVE. It's definately setting us back. Right now i don't have a tag on my jeep

Before with prepping

After, much better. Took about 3/4"ish off.

Like i said i didn't think it was that hard. Minus the possibility of being chopped up by a grinder lol.

So after doing the fold I'm sealing up the cuts with black RTV to prevent water hanging around in there and then throw some undercoating in there. I'm currently waiting on the RTV to dry. So to pass the time i took the door guard things i had on my front fenders off, to protect the tires from getting chopped. I did this so i could spray undercoating from the crease down to prevent rusting from where the paint chipped while cutting.
Sorry this is so long...here's some pics!

I may take the fenders off completely and undercoat the backside and some of the body behind the fenders. Really don't want my jeep getting rusty here in the North.

Welcome to Michigan!!! Oh yeah you should start undercoating the crap out of it now!! That's a nice looking rig, but mother nature in Michigan will tear that thing up quick if you don't protect it.. Build is looking good girl keep it up.

Thanks! And yeah i would like to get....um i forgot what its called. Maybe POR-15? I can't remember and do the whole underside. I'm not liking how this undercoating stuff i got is turning out. Cheap Dupli-color crap lol. Might get that other stuff in the end or finish throwing this stuff on since I've started and bedline those areas later.

Most undercoating won't last long here. Yeah Por-15 is pretty good. I am going to use chassis saver on my underbody I think. I kinda like Dupli-colors bedliner. I did it on my rear bumper and it is holding up good. I need to fold over my fenders also, and the rear quarters. You going to drive his for a DD in the winter?
