Project Mommy-mobile

Hey guys! I'm new to Jeeps and the Jeep community, I have been reading a lot of good builds. Yall are quite inspirational.
Here's a little about how I got into Jeeps, I'm not gonna bore you, I traded the POS 2 door car I had I put on craigslist looking for a XJ and got one. I fell in love!
So the affair begins by buying parts and such on a baby budget.

The Jeep came with:
3-4" lift (my guess from looking at pics)
31" A/T Bridgestone Dueler tires
CB radio
Roof rack

Things fixed/done so far:
Oil pressure sensor
Coolant temp sensor
Coolant flush
Synthetic oil
Wheel spacers

I ordered a set of quick disconnects to get the sway bar back on, but my springs are too saggy and interfere with it so it'll have to wait until I get the new lift.

I just ordered a set of 33" Pro Comp M/T tires

I have a lot of plans for it, next is the 6.5" Rough Country long arm lift kit :-) yay tax time!

So the springs are sagging so badly that it blocks putting the sway bar link in? That is sagging badly!

Love the tires though good luck with it.

So last Sunday we went to Harbor Freight and grab some cut off wheels and other tools to trim my fenders this weekend. Due to some weather that not happening. Before I jump into this though I want some opinions. I'm okay with trimming the front, not much to lose, they can always be replaced. The rear is what concerns me :/ I want to, but I don't want to screw this up. I plan on doing the cut and fold thing. How much extra space can you gain? Is it worth it? Any good useful advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah its got to be a combination of the saggy springs and we just figured out that the control arm bushings are bad (causing the axle to move slighty) it doesn't interfere on the drivers side, just the passenger side:dunno:
Hopefully getting the lift will help with this issue, since there will be new control arms and such.

The cut and fold is pretty simple. It took me forever to decide to do mine but i noticed alot. Now when i flex my rear end it gives about another inch of room and its not a sharp edge anymore either. Before i trimmed i was driving to go 4 wheeling and had everything in the back while i was traveling and when i hit a bump it rubbed the tire. Freaked me out. I love that i did the cut and fold.

You didn't cut to the point you had to fill in where the wheel well meets right? That's what I'm trying to avoid. And good to know you gained an inch, one thread I was reading said a quarter inch, didn't seem worth it at that point.

Forgot to post this when I done it, but with little modification I added this head unit. I'm going to block off the vents and put in a switch panel in. For now I just trimmed what I needed so it could flip up properly.

I've decided to take the plunge and cut my fenders. I took advantage of the warm weather and got to work...not much really just took the factory flares off and bumper caps on the rear. Not to mention washed the dirt from where the flares were. I've got to get the rear bumper cap brackets off and then it'll be ready for trimming

sye and shaft

By the end of this month I should have my lift, I'm very ecstatic! Now I plan on getting an SYE and CV shaft too. I was gonna just order RC's SYE and CV shaft so it could ship with my lift , of course I want some input. So have y'all use their's before? I hear people going with Tom Woods driveshaft...

_Green98XJ_ 02-11-2013 01:06 PM

I ordered the lift, sye, driveshaft, a steering stabilizer, and a diff guard Saturday now just waiting for it to show up. My boyfriend and I trimmed my front fenders, we ran out of time so the rear has to wait. Will post pics when the rear is done. Possibly picking up some black steel wheels off of craigslist for $200 and scoring some KC lights from a guy my boyfriend (for future reference Tim) works with for cheap:thumbup:

Got some more things for the Jeep today, repair and maintenance stuff. Brakes, gear oil, spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, wheel cylinders, and some door guard things for the trimmed fenders. Also picked up the Crager d window steel wheels and KC Daylighters yesterday:thumbup:
Next on the repair list is power steering hose and to find that leak coming in on the passenger side when it rains:dunno:
