You could have a new downpipe built to get rid of the factory dents and small like 1.75" piece. Have it 2.25" all the way from the header. That would open it up a bit, then a high flow cat, and a stock muffler. That's something I'm debating over the flowmaster cat back because I don't think XJ's sound very good either.

Here's a couple exhaust clips. First is dynomax (sorry about the crappy video quality)
This is what I'm currently running. Factory manifold into 2.5" pipe, high flow cat, Thrush Turbo muffler, 2.5" out w/ exit under rear bumper. Keep in mind, my manifold is cracked and I have no carpet.
I would say the Dynomax is "quieter" than the Thrush... neither one are really exceedingly loud. I remember having an ever so slight drone at cruising speed with the Dynomax, but I don't have one with the Thrush.
I don't really endorse Dyno or Thrush (same company makes both, btw), just threw it on there 'cause I got it for a trade and the straight pipe I was running was just too loud for my family.
I plan on going with Flowmaster, but I like the sound.
If I was looking for quiet, I would go with Walker, personally.

I'm looking for the same thing, a quiet exhaust, I would like one that is like factory but slightly better quality. My current exhaust was replaced by the PO at some point but it looks like ****.

I'm so bummed I got to the end of this build, read through the whole thing in one shot. Absolutely gorgeous jeep man, super jealous especially because mine rides like a dump truck haha. Can't wait for more updates.
Don't know what exhaust you decided to go with but mines got a Super 44 series MagnaFlow and everytime I start it it sounds like I just set a pipe bomb off. Love it but def not the subtle you're looking for!

Thanks. Not quite on the level of USN_BlackWK, but I do my best lol.
Trust me I'm bummed too that it's not done, but then again building it is half the fun.

I designed it that way on purpose. A hanging flag should be displayed with the stars to the left.

Gotchya! Could you make me one as if the flag was flying (left one in your picture)? That's personally how I'd like to apply it, but if you can't, I'll probably order one anyway.
Speaking of "Jeepology", is there story behind it? I'd like to know how it came about.

As for Jeepology, do you follow on FB or IG or is here on CF the first time seeing it?

I'm on FB, but I honestly can't stand it. I log-in every now and then, but it's usually just quick. I'm on IG as well, like it a lot, but don't do too much on it. CF is the first time I came across "Jeepology" when I found your build.

As for Jeepology, I guess it all starts with the fact that I am a bit obsessed with the concept of "self improvement". Sounds dumb writing it out, but it is what it is. I enjoy reading, working out, firearms, meditation, & pretty much just like getting better at things. On top of that I LOVE XJ's. Literally just sitting behind the wheel of my XJ puts a smile on my face. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate and like a nice wrangler, but they just don't do it for me. I can appreciate even a nice stock XJ, doesn't have to be built to the max. Here's one of my favorites that I still regret selling to this day. Nothing fancy, just a BB on some TJ Moabs wrapped in 31" Duratracs.

At the time I was reading a book called the 4 hour work week (solid read for anyone interested in business). Also at the same time I had decided that this XJ was "the one" that I plan to keep forever so naturally I was looking at mods and other Jeeps all day for ideas. On top of that I realized there were several companies that made Jeep shirts, but IMO they were all terribly designed with zero thought and nothing I'd ever wear (turns out most of these companies are actually people in countries outside the US that have no interest in Jeeps whatsoever, but are just trying to capitalize which explains why they are so terrible lol).
So from that storm Jeepology was born. Decided to create a community to showcase all of the awesome XJs that are out there and maybe sell a couple of shirts along the way that I would actually be proud to wear. So I taught myself how to use Photoshop and Illustrator and got to work. Also had to learn how to use social media since I really had no idea how it worked. Since then it's kinda taken off and I love interacting with other XJ enthusiasts and seeing their rigs. As we all know the XJ community has somewhat of a reputation that isn't exactly flattering and this also turned into a way to show the potential of an XJ while still retaining its uniqueness. I receive countless messages every week from people saying they never liked XJs, but after finding Jeepology they are looking to buy their first, asking for advice on what to look for, etc. This was an unexpected side effect of Jeepology, but also my favorite type of message to receive. I'm sure most may not realize it from the outside, but I have put a ton of work into it (and still am). Everything from the original name to the daily photos posted, I do my best to go the extra mile.
That explanation ended up much longer than anticipated and is still a bit of an abridged version, but I want to end with I am not here to try to "hustle" any of my stuff which is why I haven't mentioned/posted anything prior to this. Just trying to document and share my build with you guys............ but if anyone likes my shirts or decals it does directly help fund this awesome addiction
