Is anyone familiar with this motor noise and a fix? Mine is starting to do this exact same thing. Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRCyNdsi_B0

Okay so we put a stethoscope to the distributor cap and the noise is definitely coming from the distributor.
So we pulled the cap and rotor off. There really wasn't any play in the distributor. But the piece of metal at the top of the rotor was bent, and the spring-loaded metal tip on the inside of the cap looks like a pencil tip... so something wasn't rubbing right. I just did a full tune up rather recently, so it seems like a lot of wear and tear has been occurring in a short period of time:

I replaced both yesterday... because while it may or may not have been the noise, this definitely wasn't right.
The chirping noise is still occurring, and I found that I also have a pretty little exhaust leak.

The problem i had was a seizing distributor- not the cap or rotor but the shaft inside. There are some good writeups on changing the dizzy without messing with the crank but be careful while removing it or else you'll be forced to find the tdc.

Today I got an all-new distributor, and the noise is gone

Today put in a bigger and badder battery. 660 CCA.
Old battery died while I was in a parking lot.
With the new battery, I'm starting up faster and have much better performance with high beams. Gotta say loving it so far.
