Still gotta drill knuckles but cut the front fascia to fit, re-worked track bar, next up is 8.8 time

Thanks man
OTK in, new knuckles in, brakes fit now, all I gotta do is fill up the diff and put the driveshaft in and then eventually change the axle shaft u-joints. I will be towing it home tomorrow so I can break in the gears at home.

Still gotta allign too but she can steer now

Brought her home to break in the gears. Was filling the diff and noticed fluid coming out the sides. Spaced and forgot to replace the inner tube seals. Dammit. Oh well, **** happens

Two of my most favorite vehicles in the world right there...
How does that dakota do pullin all that weight? I had an '03 ext cab with a 5spd and v6 - that thing surprised me with how much it would pull, but I never would have thought even a v8 dakota to be strong enough - suspension wise - to pull all of that.

She does alright for basically a half ton truck. My parents had an 02 durango, 4.7/545FE and towed their 5,000lbs camper across the country all the time so I didnt worry about that when I bought it. It feels it no doubt but I keep it out of over drive on the freeway and does 65 no problem. When it comes to the 150 mile round trip up north, it will really hurt the wallet then. I usually see 20mpg on the freeway when we go up north..I am planning for around 6mpg when towing lol. But it takes awhile to get up to speed but once its there it has no problems. That trailer is the shops trailer and only temporary til I find one. It is built for hauling basically full size trucks and skid steers. It weighs a good 2k-2,500lbs dry so with the jeep on top its probably close to my max tow rating.
Right on man - gotta love them dakotas... Judging by the looks of the dakota, I'd say 2001-2004 model year? So I'd also assume 4.7l?
It would be expensive as all get out, but an aluminum trailer would probably be the best thing in your case.

Yup its a 2001 with the 4.7/545FE w/ transgo shift kit. This summer I will be over-hauling the cooling system because towing in the summer, she got up almost to half way hot and the 4.7s are notorious for blowing up the second they get hot. I have a line on a 16ft tandem with electric brakes right now. I will just have to see where I can put it haha

Right on... that would be a great trailer. Unfortunately, I know exactly what happens to those 4.7's... I just recently sold a '00 WJ with the 4.7 because of that... sad too because I really liked that Jeep. The previous owner sold it to me under the pretense that it was an exhaust leak... not knowing any better I went for it because I figured it was no big deal. Turns out, he must have overheated it because the valve seats in the pass side bank were the issue... The good news is that they fixed the issue with the replacement heads - bad news is that the cost of the repair would have totaled the value of the Jeep Originally Posted by aircruiser

hey, I was meaning to ask you, I still have that IRO kit I got from you, AND I never got that socket off.
lol. but I was wondering IF there were any problems with the caster adjuster, I think I found myself in a forum at one point reading about some earlier versions bending? just curious. and also I have a blown steering stabilizer that I bought last christmas and it's supposed to be in warranty. wondering if I can get reimbursed? and if there's a recall and that caster part, can you send one my way. that's all! =D

Haha nice that socket is on there good. Never really heard of cast adjuster issues. Only heard of some having issues when people dont torque them to the right torque spec and they loosen up. Not sure about the stabilizer warranty, give a call or shoot an e-mail to one of the guys and they will take care of youOriginally Posted by cherokee_ftw_5

Not much for the jeep but picked up a trailer tonight, it tows soooo much better! 2 ton axles, low deck, electric brakes can lift the tongue and move it by hand! I had to look in my mirrors a couple times to make sure it was still there!

Awesome man, yeah ya don't even need ramps with that one!
As far as the motor goes - keep it cool and it should be fine, but if you're gonna do it, HO is the way to go!
