I know, that's why I was saying it was bad. Today proved it. The clutch plates were badly damaged inside the LSD. This was probably a problem since I bought it, because the diff fluid we took out of there last week was thick, dark, and nasty, so it was probably abused and never tuned up. I know for a fact there was a LSD in there because of the shape and how the inside carrier looks, so if the tires spin in opposite ways, it's broken. But hey, I'm just happy I'm upgrading to a Chrysler 8.25. Also ordered a Solid diff cover, new U bolts and plates, and a Powertrax no slip diff for it, so it'll be awesome when it's all said and done.

And then my next step will be saving up for new tires, and cutting and folding my fenders to fit them. When the new tires come in, I will regear to 4.56 because I'll be getting some 33x10.5r15 BFG mt's, plus a matching spare rim and tire. That and skid plates of course!

I also need to get a Solid diff cover for my Dana 30, and wire wheel the whole axle and paint it black. I have ordered a steering gear box spacer, heavy duty coil spring retainers, new grade 8 U bolts and heavy duty U bolt plates, all from Iron Rock Off Road, so that should be pretty awesome once installed.

I got my rear Powertrax locker today. Also started the process of wire wheeling and painting the Chrysler 8.25

Now would be a good time to regear 4.56! Good score on that 8.5.

True, but I'm going to wait until I can afford the 33's to regear. I'll stick with the 3.55's until then. I'm also installing an Aussie locker up front, so I can't wait to take it on some trails and see how it wheels!

Nice!!! You're trucking right along with that build. Looks good man. Might have to recruit you to help me scout out an 8.8, if you're game.

My money tree is a bit thin these days, so I won't be able to throw in a locker right away. Having it home to clean & prep would be nice so it's ready to go when the funds are saved though.

I got kind of lucky finding that axle. It was on Craigslist for a month, and I wanted to buy it but didn't have a good reason. Then my rear diff blew out and it was still for sale, so I went and picked it up right away for $125. The other ones I've found have been around $250-$300 or so. I also have new U bolts and heavy duty U bolt plates coming in from IRO, and I decided to get some heavy duty coil spring retainers and a heavy duty steering gearbox spacer from them as well.

That's nice and shiny! When you put on the solid cover, take that angle grinder and grind the excess of the diff off, you'll gain noticeable clearance.

I'll eventually be getting a Solid cover for my front diff too, I really like the way they're designed, and the price is pretty nice too!

I have one for my d35, waiting for on my matching 30 to come in too. When I end up going 33s I'll be picking up a 8.25 and doing the same thing you are. But probably disk brakes, an aussie locker, and 4.11 gearing.

Nice, I'm putting an Aussie locker up front on mine. Can't wait to test it out.
