Man I hit my wheels with a wire wheel on a grinder and painted the center with rattle can barbecue grill paint. Nice flat black and never chipped and it's heat resistant. You can do a lot for cheap but it's a challenge building on a budget. There's a lot of junkyard parts you could use to put together a decent 3-4 inch lift.

Got some new tires last friday. Went and had them put on because I was in a hurry. Never again. I will find the time to put them on next time. Way too much money and way too much tire pressure. Got a steal on the tires. Almost brand new BFG KOs for $450.
Also took it wheeling over the weekend down at Uwharrie National Forest. Had a blast and only got one dent in the rocker on the passenger side.

Looking good! Great upgrades that have given me some good ideas as well. Ever notice any excess heat with just the bedliner on the roof?

Man, its been forever since I posted here. A few upgrades since last time. New bumper and been running doorless.
Just picked up a FREE 94 xj to fix up and use for bad weather/ farm work. So the gremlin is about to get built a little more.
Coming soon I have a Ramsey 9000 lb winch and a 3.5" lift to go on it. Got some 4.5" RE XJ front lift springs which should get me 3.5" on the ZJ. So Im going to do a F>R swap and those springs.
Had a little incident bringing the XJ home.... XJ meet ZJ, ZJ meet XJ.

UPDATE on the gremlin!
Just put i a new motor and new 4" lift.
LIFT:
Picked up a set of RE 4.5" XJ springs for $40 when I got the white XJ. Decided to throw them under the gremlin while it was down for a heart transplant. They netted me 4" of lift up front. I swapped the stock front springs to the rear for 3.5" of lift and the jeep sets level now. really like how it looks.
Initially I thought I had just blown the head gasket. So I sent the head to be gone through
But we put it all back together and it turned out to be a busted cylinder skirt.
So I bought a motor....
Found this fo r $500 been bored .010 over and has a cam. So in it went. After much headache and hiccups its in and running. Still have an issue after it heats up, but Ill figure it out.
Here is how it sits now. Still have to put the stinger back on after I shorten it up some.
