Interior lights shutoff switch
Edited 8.27.2016: 🙄
At times it's nice to be parked with the doors open and not have the interior lights on draining the battery, so today I installed a switch to facilitate it.
Took awhile but I finally traced the power to a yellow wire located in a connectotor below the fuse panel in the passenger side fuse bay. It is the forward, bottom connector. This powers the footwell lights, and forward dome light when any of the doors are opened. Cut the yellow wire and splice in enough wire to reach a conveniently located switch and you can disable the three lights mentioned.
The light in the cargo area is not affected by the afore mention switch. Pull the light out of the headliner and find a three pin connector above the switch; two power wires and a ground. One of those wires is the same yellow as the one in the front connector; cut it and the cargo light will not come on by opening the hatch or doors. It will come on if you press it as normal.
Be sure to throughly insulate all connections. Also a good idea to unhook the battery - or have a handful of 15 amp fuses. It's located in the fuse panel under the hood....😟 Kinda smoky blue colored.
The map lights beside the front dome work as normal when the interior lights are deactived.
Here the switch:
