the diesel xj
so basically here it is. the jeep has been in the family since it was made at the factory, my grandma bought it and kept it since 2006 in a garage all stock. she gave it to my sister for graduation and she kept it until 2014 and she tried to sell it and i took it. the motor wasnt the best in the world but still ran strong, i just knew it wouldnt last long. 2 years later she is finally giving up the go. rear main seal is going out and oil pump went / is going out. so finally i got my excuse to swap it.
that being said, over the past year iv been collecting the parts to put a om617 into this beauty.
i have
-motor mounts
-trans adapter
-fuel kill switch
-egr delete
-exhaust kit
yes i know theres a few more little things to get but ill snag them within the week or next. also yes i know i need the engine, im going to look at one and hear it run this coming weekend.
iv done my research and still doing a bunch on this swap. im pretty sure i know everything on whats to be done so far!
this is what iv done to the jeep so far.
Exterior
- 50” curved led light bar
- window vents
- Curt roof basket (with extensions)
- spare tire mounted in rack
- Led headlights
- Led lights all the way around
- 4.5” Rough Country lift (add a leaf)
- New OEM leaf springs
- Rough Country adjustable track bar 4-6.5” (1079)
- Rough Country steering stabilizer
- Prothane 1-1104 red 25mm front sway bar bushing kit
- (5) Pro Comp Series 51 (15x10 Gloss Black)
- (5) Wild Peak AT (32x11.5x15)
Interior
- Led lights all the way around
- Mag light mounted on door
- JBL 6.5” 3-way Speakers (Front / Rear)
- fire extinguisher on back hatch
- Rockville hide away subwoofer
(light bar in pic i switch to a curved 50")
iv never been good at documenting as i go, but i will do my best guys! cause i know you will all interested in my crazy madness going on with this.

om617 is by far the easiest. the guys i got my motor mounts from are working on motor mounts for the newer mercedes diesel's as well. so in the future ill problem switch over to one of those for easier power gain.
