To me it would all depend on where you wanted to go with the rig. Like where do you see it 5yrs from now.. or where do you see yourself wheeling at. My exo cage rig is mainly for 1 or 2 places I like to wheel. One is Crozet VA, and the Other is Tellico. My interal cage rig can still pass a safety inspection, and be "street legal", and is for trail riding and extreme wheeling on small tires. Then it becomes a drivers game, about picking the the right line and making it work. The cage is there cause I feel if you wheel you need some form of cage in your rig.

I'm probably going to build a full tube chassis Pro-Mod buggy after next year and hopefully drive as the third vehicle on our W.E.ROCK team. I built this for the family to wheel with me in. We (the guys) do some extreme stuff when she's not in the Jeep with the dog. I'd like to keep the body in as good as shape as possible as I realize if I roll this one... she'll be toast.

I wheel at Bigdogs out in Gore, VA, Rausch Creek and Crozet. I'm not a stranger to body damage but I don't want to mutiliate this one as the wife will probably end up driving it once I build a full on buggy.

You going to Big dogs in June? I plan on being there with the Turd.. and maybe Pong if I get it done.

My wife doesn't even go with me wheeling that only happened after she seen video of Guard Rail in Tellico. I almost flopped there.. and that was when Pong was my daily driver

I'm trying to keep the wife from wheelin but she likes the camping aspect of it. So I'm stuck with a skirt on the trail unless I claim it to be a "guys" weekend only. Then I can get a hall pass for sure. haha.

You know, this thread just turned me onto the exo. I want something completely radical and crazy looking. And an exo would just put it over the edge, imo.

If you think about it though you are obviously building a cage because you are expecting to roll. Do you really want to end up fixing all the damage from an internal cage that could have been prevented with an external cage?
Just my nickles worth...

I'm pretty sure he's gonna have bumpers and sliders to tie into.

I already planned ahead with these....

Rear bumper with 1/4" quarter guards

Front bumper made out of 1/4" plate with sides that extend to meet with tube for tube fenders and or cage.
