Ordered some stuff today

New LuK clutch and flywheel
New clutch throwout fork and release pivot in case i need to replace them
New shifter seals, bushings, and boots

Also picked up another 3.07 geared HP30 which i broke down and cleaned up this weekend. Plan is to use the axle with my current hubs/shafts/brakes while my current axle is getting regeared and strengthened. Needs ball joints on one side and the trackbar hole repaired, but other than that it's in decent shape once i cleaned it up. Gonna throw a cheap pair of balljoints in and weld a plate to the trackbar mount to get me though the swap. Came with some other goodies (Rusty's tie rod and RE fixed LCAs) that i'll be selling.

debating that. I'd like to, but i don't want to throw too much money at a dana30. I think i'm gonna throw some knuckle plates on, and maybe some HD LCA mounts, and swap the cast upper bushing for a johnny joint. Still undecided...

most d30 failures are due to carrier/ring gear deflection, not bending the tubes, so i'm thinking of just adding a beefy cover. I'm not the type of wheeler who mashes the gas and launches over obstacles so the chances for me bending the axle tubes is not that good

i do need to find some TJ/Late Model XJ shafts that accept the 297x/760x joints though. Sucks this d30 is the same year as mine and uses the smaller 260x joints, but the price was right...

why not just build the spare 30 and transfer the parts when you swap it in? seems like that would be less effort.

axle under my truck i know is straight and well maintained with a non-wallowed out trackbar hole. It already has LCA skids, sway link pins, and bumpstops set up. Also has brand new ball joints in it, which is the main reason.

My current pinion bearing is totally shot so i need to have a solution for the short term

Wow I just read through your whole thread and man you have an amazing build there! I love how you give such detailed descriptions of everything you do and do it right the first time! My one question though is what are your thoughts now on your Bastard Pack lift kit do you really like it? Would you do it again? I'm looking to do one on my jeep but just 3" and was wondering? Also I don't remember seeing pictures of your finished floor with your "fake" Dynomat and monster liner and was wondering how that turned out!? Thanks so much for this thread really a great one!
