My idler pulley decided it wanted to fall apart last night just as I pulled into my driveway. I think it had MAYBE a mile left on it before it would have grenaded. Those missing ***** were gone before I took the pulley off.
Good timing!

So now the jeep has a new pulley, and I installed a new belt at the same time since it's been a while and the old one was starting to show it's age.

THAT, is why you should always have a can of fix-a-flat, and a roll of duct tape in your Jeep.
Seriously though, I'm glad you didn't get hurt.
Tires are cheap when compared to a life.

Been running it for 2 years. Date code 0311.
I believe what happened is i picked up a nail somewhere, which got ejected and caused the tire to rapidly lose pressure at 70mph, and the tire tore itself apart.
