I guess to each his own. I will be replacing the inaccurate gauges anyway, so this was the right choice for me.

Worked a bit more on the door hinges.

The bottom passenger side hinge is done. Drilled a bigger hole and welded a stud in place facing upward just like the drivers side.

The holes on the top two hinges on the body side are drilled and ready to accept the larger pins that are on the door side. The top door side hinges will have the downward facing pins, and they are the ones that are going to be trouble. I need to drill holes for the new pins, and I need to drill through hardened steel.

Once that is done I will have all new, stainless steel door pins and hardware.

Drilling the holes with my titanium drill bit.

Bottom pin.

The bottom door side hinge will slide over this. The drivers side looks identical, but I didn't weld the pin on the drivers side.

The pin will be put thru the upper door side hinge and will be welded in place. Once I drill thru that damn steel.

Then it will slide on like this...

A pic of my dirty door frame and the needle nose vice grips I used to keep the pin in place while welding it.

After all that was done I found I still had some energy left, and there was still beer in the fridge, so I began cleaning my front fenders.

Thanks. I plan to have this truck forever, so I figure by not cutting corners and taking my time I will save myself headaches later.

Pics of the trimmed fenders as promised.

I did a really rough job, though. As hard as I tried the fenders are just too rusted to get a really clean cut. If I want it to look factory clean, the quarters will need to be replaced.

Maybe that will happen. Maybe.
