Default Project Big Red!

Ok so after having to sell my 95 xj with 33's and a long arm kit. I had an hole in my life and a little extra cash in my pocket.

So I went shopping for another xj not expecting anything but a stock one. Well I stumbled across and add for a '94 with a lift and new tires but had some mechanical issues for $1500. So I called the guy and he went thru the list which was long but nothing major things like brakes, ball joints, the door falling off ect. Well I threw him an offer and he accepted.

Spent $900 and this is what I got

'94 Xj
4.0
177k
5spd
231
6"? lift(procomp I think it has lca's on it and some shorter springs up front with spacers)
lots of lights
brand new 33x12.50x15 TSL radials on it.

Motor runs solid and trans shifts smooth had to trailer it to my dads because of the lack of brakes. Front sheet metal needs replaced the po or someone has dropped something across the fenders. and hood

The plan a dual purpose rig probably sporting some 4.10 gears and a pair of selectable lockers or tru tracs retro ac make sure it has working cruise so that I can drive it to moab next fall.

Went to get Big Red last weekend after my dad had fixed the brakes. Got it about 4 miles before it over heated then the clutch started acting up. So I had to leave it at my dads for a few more weeks.

The radiator is plugged and full of mud. The clutch turned out to be fine however the po had obviously done a clutch job on it and forgot to tighten the bell housing bolts and all but 1 were missing trans and clutch work fine now. still gotta order a new radiator and send it up to him.

other things I know it needs
Plugs
wires
cap
rotor
valve cover gasket
motor and trans mount
double cardone rebuilt on front d-shaft
1 front u joint
but I am looking forward to getting it the 2.5 hours to my house and messing around with it.

just glad I have a great dad to help me out.

Thats a pretty sick mj!! Got the motor and tranny mounts done but still got a shudder when taking off and letting the clutch out.

Good news is the brown santa showed up today and brought me a present

It does not look too terrible for 900 bucks man. I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with it. Red is better than white anyways

Well some new updates did get me rcx trackbar installed axle is centered up much better not sure if its perfect but ill get it aligned once i get the taller springs on the front so that i only have to do it once. Also found out i need new shocks apparently it has a 3.5" lift that is now a 4" lift and the shocks only have about 1-2" of down travel not much. I have some bilstiens that i took off a buddies truck that i am gonna install till i can afford some new ones.

Also i picked up a set of tj flare off craigslist for $35 got the front ones installed mostly to appease the local po-po heres a pic of the fronts installed.

Project Big Red!-forumrunner_20121006_223837.jpg

Spent the day un-installing the roof roof lights and rats nest of wiring the po had installed i left the wiring for the lights on the rear bumper and lights on the front bumper everything else is gone also fixed a bunch a broken interior pieces and replaced the inner shift boot so my leg would quit being fried.

All in all been a busy xj week and a busy week all together. I really hope people are reading this lol. No hard core tech or anything. But its a build thread lol.
