I swear you are always right at the same place with me when it comes to racejeep ideas...where'd you pick this up and what did it run you? Did you compensate for the suspension drop?

You should bring your jeep down for a little face off like we talked about before. Would be a blast.

http://pstds.com/shop/all-carbon-fib...hot-rod-shaft/

Found it on ebay and sellers site for much less.

I doubt it will actually help or do much of anything different than stock, but it goes nice with the composite/fiberglass springs. Why? #becauseracejeep.

We might have similar RaceJeeps but your's is optimized for drag and our's for autocross.

18' aluminum trailer in the works.

I'll definitely be trailering it to you at some point MJ. Just gotta buy said trailer and finish my red Jeep so I can use it as a tow rig. Racejeep also needs the builder to finish it's new engine. Shooting for 400whp minimum (I.e. shooting for double where I'm at now). Lol

Shaft is also 1" shorter to compensate for how low my Jeep is.

It might not give a ton of benefits for you, but carbon driveshafts are nice for drag. They give you a better launch while increasing drivetrain component life.

I'll be at the flashlight event on May31. You should try and make it

Is that because they can flex a bit more than metal ones? I have zero clues about this stuff lol

Haven't really been on CF for a while, so... I'm just got around to reading your build thread lol. Looking good so far. I'm not a fan of the Momentum kit, but I'm also slightly biased. Plus I like my a/c haha.

Anywho.... Just got racejeep's new heart. Should put out n/a what RJ makes boosted. I'll obviously get it dyno'd after the engine swap. Still waiting on the M90 top mount kit for it. I honestly just can't wait to drop it in because that'll be an end to the whole oil burning thing.... Lol

What motor combo did you end up going with? Did you stay 4.0 like you wanted? I'm leaning toward longrod 4.7L. I'd like to go bigger, but I'm afraid of having too thin of a cylinder wall. I've also thought about doing an offset ground stroker, like they do to get the 5.0/5.1s but keep the small bore. I'm trying to come to terms with the 5500rpm rev limit.

The auto trans shifts at 4850-4900 unless you make it manual shift.
Building these 4.0s is like building a diesel engine, 'lower' rpm hp/tq.

The head is the limiting factor. It barely flow enough for a 4.0L let alone 4.6+L.
Strokers do make great torque.
If it was drag/autocross/race only I'd probably do a stroker with forced induction to help the poor flowing head.
If it is not a street legal DD, then I'd do a stroker, stand alone megasquirt and big cam and 6000+rpm.

For street, need good manners and to keep stock ecu and obd to stay legal.

Having said that, Racejeep engine-
-4.0L + 0.060" over = 4078cc 122cc bigger than stock
-2.02"/1.62" valves and ported clearwater aftermarket head
-1.7:1 Harland Sharp roller rockers
-lightweight conical beehive valve springs and retainers 100seat/220 at 0.500"
-ARP head studs
-Victor Reinz MLS 0.041" head gasket
-Custom forged Racetec pistons, 14cc dish, raised pin
-Scat forged rods with ARP bolts
-stock crank
-milled head and block slightly for straightness and 0.000" deck
-Jones Cam retainer plate '99+ cam 204/216* 0.502"/0.519" at 0.050"
-Johnson-Hylift hydraulic lifters
-5/16" CM pushrods
-Cloyes stock timing chain
-Melling stock oil pump
-784 injectors and stock tune
-Walbro 255LPH fuel pump

Expect 240-250HP/280-300TQ crank N/A, up from stock 190hp/225tq
Break in and then add M90 SC and 10-16 pounds boost for 60-100% more power.

Haha. I always back my claims up with dyno sheets, so..... Roflmao.

Gunna be fun comparing notes with Frankie Johnson when he comes up to the area again. Been talking to him about this engine/build for a while. Just gotta get the second one built and in my lifted XJ before he does since I kinda challenged him to a race the last time he was here.... Haha

For those that don't know... He's THE guy when it comes to high power/high revving race 4.0s.

I may have missed it reading through but what did you use for front shocks and coils? I'm lowering and turboing my 99 but keeping the 4x4 I just ordered a set of front shocks for a 67 skylark as they are within the height I'm sittin at now. As for coils I cut 2 off of each side i but hate the ride quality so I'm debating redesigning the coil mounts to fit a set of stock Subaru Legacy gt rear coils which have a much higher spring rate and are 14" without load.
