bad news. got the head off and pulled the lifters. cam is toast, debating on a full rebuild or just slapping a new cam shaft and lifters and roll. if i do a full rebuild its gonna be a stroker.

this was like this when i got the jeep and had no idea since the head was cracked. i guess now i know whats really been contributing to my misfire issue this whole time
(bad lifter....)

this hole is not suppossed to be here

how far is wore down

That sucks about the cam/lifters bro! I am rebuilding my engine and just picked up my new cam and lifters only spent about $160 for both. Did the other cylinders check out ok (compression)? By the way your jeep looks really good! Im digging the paint in the engine bay! Did you use high temp paint?

Yeah i went with stock. I was gonna pick up the comp cams set up but I was told that it wont make to much of a diffrence. If you need any advice on pulling the engine out let me know! Also one more question... How did you clean the engine bay? I sprayed the crap outta mine with the hose and it wont break down...

this isn't my first time pulling a jeep motor unfortunately but as far as cleaning it, i just sprayed it down with engine cleaner first, then used purple power. i removed everything from the sides and either propped them out of the way or removed it completely and used a cleaning brush then wiped with shop rags to clean it, sprayed more, and used the wetvac to vacuum out the spots i couldnt get to well.

advance/autozone/walmart all carry purple power around here, its a degreaser and its pretty strong. don't get it on any paint on the outside and let it sit or dry, it may eff it up

in the meantime that cute lil pup that used to be has turned a year old and turned in to straight beast mode. still LOTS of filling out to do, but he has been thickening up pretty well. 100+ lbs now

still looks small (to me) compared to my parents rott who is full grown @ 130lb ish now. but he will get there in the next year or so.
