i did what i could with some pix i took last weekend. the sensor on my camera is fubared so they are really dirty/grainy looking hoping to get a d7000 for my bday

the headlights are true HID bixenon PROJECTORS so, yes.. while they are painted black, it has no effect on light output. also, the passenger side lens is PHOTOSHOPPED, i havent finished putting it together so itsaround with half stock/orange signals and half black projector/smoked signals lol

theres a trail right behind my house i just went to last weekend to get some shots until i get it inspected for some beach shots

been sick today, but i did manage to pry myself out of bed at like 1230pm. went outside to pull the trashcan up and figured id start the xj to let it run for a few minutes, so i drove it around the neighborhood and it seems to be doing a little better with the misfire.

wierd thing is, on startup it runs GREAT. itll idle fine, take the gas fine and all. once it warms up some (not after a restart), itll still run decent when cruising or WOT. but if i stop to idle, it runs kinda rough, if i put it in park in runs really rough.

WTF? IAC with maybe some other issue helping it along? i'll clean it when i feel better, feel too crappy to do anything else

no idea, its not completely gone but it seems to be better than it was. put some fuel injection cleaner in it today, so if that helps anymore. gonna take the IAC off and clean it, it still is rough at idle and comes and goes while driving

pulled the injector connector off on cylinder 5 where the misfire is and it has no affect on the way it runs, all the other cylinders do, so it's definitely something where its not getting fuel or spark on 5.

Nice shots with the dslr, let's see some more!! What lens are you using? I've have a d60 that I got not too long so I'm dying to get out and take some pics of my gas guzzler. Still getting familiar with it but I'm really loving the ones you took

did a little troubleshooting and im stumped.

cylinder 5 is not firing at all, or should i say not working.

checked injector wire voltage and it appears to be on par with all the others, checked the injectors resistance and it read about 13 ohms (including .5-.8 lead resistance) which was also what the other injectors read. also swapped the plugs around and still nothing on 5 (i can take the injector wire off 5 and it idles the same)

so i figure its getting power to the injector, so i pulled the coil pack off (damn distributor-less crap), stuck a plug in cylinder 5 boot and ran a piece of wire from the electrode of the plug to ground, turned it over and got spark...

dirty injector?

so, im down to a clogged injector or something else crazy. i swear last week it was running on all 6 cylinders for a while, decided to put some fuel injector cleaner in it, and now it wont even idle decent AT ALL. when before it would run fine for a while then act up.

Pull the fuel injector off. The fuel rail is easy to pull off. try that and see if the injector is bad. I would first see if cylinder 5 has compression. Hopefully it does. Good luck man
